We started off by drawing lines untill they became straight and parallel. This was surprisingly harder than in looked. We also learnt how to hold the pencil correctly (with a loose wrist and with the main movement coming from the elbow).
Once we felt as though we had master the lines we then moved onto basic shapes, as all things are made up of shape and line it is important to master this skill;
Here we created a sort of charter showing the different gradient pencil, ranging from 6B-5H.
I found this task useful as it gave you an understanding of the different depths and textures that can be created with each pencil.
We then combined what we had learn to create 3D shapes with shading and shadow.
Surprisingly the shape I struggled the most with was the cube, I would have expected this to be one of the easier shapes to draw... as you can see, I fail to draw a 2nd version at a different angle, I attempted many a time but it just looked disproportionate and just all wrong!
From this lesson, we have been set the task to research masters of drawing and using what we have learnt from today and our research; draw a still life image of our choice.
